Schall und Rauch | Hotel & Guesthouse

A house with history

Before Germanys reunification Prenzlauer Berg was a part of East Berlin – characteristic for this district are the buildings from the turn of the century.

In the 90s and 2000s years, for the most part, nicely restored and renovated, Prenzlauer Berg is today the largest “Gründerzeitgebiet” that still exists. With thousands off buildings of witch more than 300 are under protection for historical buildings.

This district close to the city center is characteristic for his restaurants and bars. Center of the nightlife is the area surrounding the subway station “Eberswalder Straße”, here also Schönhauser Allee, Danziger Straße and Kastanienallee cross.

Since 14 years SCHALL UND RAUCH is an essential part of this “Kiez” (typical Berlin slang for neighborhood) and one of the founders of the “East Berlin Gay scene“. The boom off Prenzlauer Berg becomes more and more a competition to Berlins traditional “Schwulenkiez” (gay area) in Berlin-Schöneberg surrounding Nollendorfplatz.

Cinemas, shopping center, concert halls and parks offer a great way to organize your leisure time around the day. This way Schall und Rauch is very central but quiet located at the same time.

Connected thru Berlins perfect public transport system (S-, U-Bahn, MetroTram und MetroBus) you’ll reach every destination within the city in no time and for a reasonable price.

Sleep in the comfort of our newly renovated very spacious rooms, set up to most modern standards, but at the same time can tell stories of more then 100 years of history. Nicely furnished quiet and clean our “Stadthotel” is the perfect alternative for your next visit to Germanys capital city Berlin.
